GEETHA GOES BACK TO SCHOOL

Geetha

Jaya has been working in my house since ten years. That was from the time she moved to Mumbai with her elder daughter Anjali. Her younger daughter Geetha joined them a year later after completing Std. V in their village. Jaya had decided to shift her family to Mumbai after her husband’s death as there was no way to make a living there.

She chose Mumbai as her sister and family also live here. Jaya did not even think of putting her children in school in Mumbai. One was the language barrier, another was affordability and the third and predominant reason was that Jaya did not realize the value of education. While Anjali was not too disturbed by this, the younger Geetha had always dreamt of studying further. The 9-year-old did not go to school for the next four years. I was busy with a job in those days and also because Jaya was new to my household, she never mentioned anything.

I was going to Bandra to attend a lecture and prayer session conducted by Amma Bhagavan’s guide. I took my children; a friend; her son; Jaya and her younger daughter who was absolutely fascinated with Amma Bhagavan. Geetha had already begun praying to the Srimurti since a few months. At the time of the Pooja, Geetha was 13 years old. During the prayer session, we were all told to make a wish and pray to Amma Bhagavan. Geetha diligently followed the session and said her prayers. Not that she shared her secret with anyone.

A couple of months later, the Municipal School next door sent out volunteers to the Basthi where Jaya lives and encouraged children to join school. The education was free of cost while they provided books, school bag and uniforms to the children. A super-excited Geetha told her mother to enroll her. Jaya was very hesitant and talked to me about it. I told her to not even think about it and to put her in school. My daughter Vinitha offered to pay for any private tuition that was required for Geetha and she does that till today.

After the admission process was complete, Geetha let on to her mother that that’s what she had prayed to Amma Bhagavan – that she should get a chance to complete her studies. The childish innocence and strong faith brought down the full force of Amma Bhagavan’s grace and her prayers were answered immediately. Geetha was allowed to join in Std. III as she had never studied Hindi before. Not that the kid was terribly bothered. She forged ahead with her studies and today at 19 she has successfully passed out of Std. VIII. Her results came out yesterday.

AMMA BHAGAVAN HAS YET AGAIN PROVED THAT IF THERE IS A PRAYER, THE GRACE IS NOT FAR BEHIND!

THANK YOU AMMA BHAGAVAN!
